Services at our centre may be covered by third parties such as Extended Health Care (EHC) Insurance Policies. Your employer, human resource representative, private insurance administrator or union will be able to provide information as to the details of your health care coverage under your EHC plan.
Please refer to the services below for specific details.
Effective December 1, 2004, the provincial government of Ontario eliminated partial support ($9.65 per visit to a maximum of $150 per year) for chiropractic care. The elimination of partial OHIP funding for chiropractic care means that the government has transferred the cost of care to the patient. If you have Extended Health Care (EHC) insurance, your plan may cover all or a portion of your chiropractic care. Many EHC insurance policies cover chiropractic care. This would also include acupuncture, laser therapy, specialized soft tissue therapy, electrotherapy and exercise prescription services under the chiropractic coverage umbrella. Your chiropractic care may also be covered under approved Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) and Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) claims where applicable.
Many Extended Health Care (EHC) insurance policies fully or partially cover individuals for custom orthotics. You do not need a referral to be tested and examined for orthotics. However, you may need a medical referral in order to receive re-imbursement for orthotics from your insurance company. Our centre provides detailed estimate letters that explain: diagnosis, description of examination and manufacturing process, including raw materials used, lab information and credentials. Additional information such as the Biomechanical Examination and Proof of Manufacturing can also be provided if required. It is strongly encouraged that individuals examine the details of their coverage and be aware of any other criteria that must be fulfilled for reimbursement. Our chiropractic doctors are trained to prescribe and dispense custom orthotics.
